Benton/Tama Nutrient Reduction Demonstration Project
The Benton-Tama Nutrient Reduction Demonstration Project is focused on identifying and implementing nutrient reduction practices to support the Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy goals of 41% nitrate and 29% phosphorus reductions from agricultural non-points sources. The project area includes the Wolf Creek, Rock Creek and Pratt Creek Huc-12 watersheds in Benton and Tama counties. The project supports producers in implementing best management practices including cover crops, reduced tillage, nutrient management and edge of field structures. The project is funded by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Water Quality Initiative.
